coefficient
noun
The heat transfer coefficient is the heat transferred per unit area per kelvin. Thus area is included in the equation as it represents the area over which the transfer of heat takes place. The areas for each flow will be different as they represent the contact area for each fluid side.
Example: More specifically, the beta COEFFICIENT gives an indication of the sensitivity of each stock's return to that of the market (S&P 500) portfolio. A high beta COEFFICIENT value would indicate a high sensitivity and a higher risk.

heat flux
noun
is a flow of energy per unit area per unit time. In SI, its units are watts per square meter
Example: When comparing each method, it can be said that the eddy correlation method is perhaps a better method to obtain values of sensible HEAT FLUX, latent HEAT FLUX and the Bowen Ratio.

heat sink
noun
instrument used to lower the temperature of some electronic components.
Example: HEAT SINKS are used with high-power semiconductor devices such as power transistors and optoelectronics such as lasers and light-emitting diodes (LEDs), where the heat dissipation capacity of the component itself is insufficient to moderate its temperature.

isolines
noun
A contour line of a two-variable function is a curve along which the function has a constant value, so that the curve joins points of equal value.
Example: CONTOUR LINE (line of constant elevation or depth, sometimes used to describe other lines of constant value). A line of constant value on a map or chart. Examples include isobar (equal barometric pressure), isotherm (equal temperature), and isohyet (equal precipitation).

isotropic
adjective
is the characteristic of some phenomena in space whose properties do not depend on the direction in which they are examined.
Example: The fast spinning of the sample at the magic angle simulates ISOTROPIC molecular motion, like in a liquid, which causes the broad lines to form narrow peaks with the addition of spinning side-bands.

mesh
noun
A mesh network is a network topology in which each node is connected to all nodes. In this way it is possible to carry messages from one node to another by different paths. If the mesh network is fully connected, there can be absolutely no communication interruptions.
Example: The finite element method involves the discretisation of a continuous medium into a MESH, and the application of matrix methods to solve for the applied boundary conditions.
